When Kayon Graham talks about her work, she is clear and measured. Originally from a Jamaican family, Kayon lived in New Jersey before settling in Maryland. She has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Rutgers University, a master’s degree in accounting and information systems from University of Maryland Global Campus, where she is also currently completing her MBA. Her professional career spans more than a decade, and that experience shows in how calmly she talks about both the technical and relational aspects of accounting. She understands that behind every set of books is a business owner trying to make decisions, manage risk, and plan for the future.

While her work is rooted in numbers, Kayon is candid that relationships matter just as much. As a member of the Maryland Black Chamber of Commerce, she first learned about the Black Business Database (BBD) through the chamber's newsletter, which highlights opportunities for small, growing businesses. Participating in the chamber is the beginning of a broader effort to connect with local ecosystems that value alignment and mutual support.

“I’m small, I’m growing,” she says plainly. “So, I’m looking to take advantage of opportunities that make sense and help me build visibility.”

She is selective about where she invests her time and how she presents her work, preferring steady growth over shortcuts. It is a mindset shaped by years in the field and a clear understanding of what her clients need most: accuracy, clarity, and guidance they can rely on.
